 libraryUse your local library
Why not visit your local library? Many libraries run special events for children over the school holidays - go along and see what they have on offer.

cookingMost children enjoy cooking, so for those inevitable rainy days, why not try Annabel Karmel's 'Children's first cookbook', published by Dorling Kindersley.

Another book of fun activities, again published by Usborne, is based on the popular 'Farmyard tales' series, and is called 'Farmyard tales things to make and do'. Projects include a kite, a door sign and butterflies.

Holidays are often a time for new experiences and there are many books to help your child prepare for and understand these. One such series is Usborne's 'First experiences' covering topics such as 'Going on a plane' and 'Going to a party'.

Jean Adamson's series about Topsy and Tim, published by Puffin, also highlights new experiences - for the spring and summer your child will enjoy 'Topsy and Tim learn to swim' and 'Topsy and Tim at the farm'.
