English worksheets

We thought it would be useful to compile our suggestions and ideas on ways to inspire your children to enjoy 'writing' in various forms. The page starts with Emergent writing and moves on to more advanced planning up to writing about Shakespeare. Most of the early writing skills will progress from colouring to pencil skills then to pen. Children should use computer skills to enhance their work at all stages.

The worksheets illustrated on this page are to show you some examples of the wide range of English advice and guidance available to members of Parents in Touch - to view these pages, please subscribe to Parents in Touch. Members, please click here to access all the worksheets.

Emergent writing All these pages arise from adults and children talking about a story or nursery rhymes. Children together with the adult increase their vocabulary, imagination and writing skills by creating a different story on a theme.

All of the pages below include suggestions of ways parents can help and inspire their children. It may be necessary to spend some time to discuss ideas before starting work at all! This is fun and the children feel very proud of the outcomes.
