The education and information site for parents

Time to go back to work………

As maternity leave draws to a close there is often a dilemma for a new mother as to whether or not she returns to work.
This decision is a very personal one and definitely NOT one that any parent should feel guilty about.
family

Years ago all new mothers stayed at home but nowadays there are other alternatives. These should be explored and together the new family will make the joint decision depending on job commitments, finances and everyone’s happiness.
It is often the case that financially some mums need to work. This decision must be set against the fact that often baby care will cost you some of your earnings.
Some firms offer child–care facilities either on their premises or close to hand. They realise the importance of retaining trained personnel and acknowledge the fact that every mother only wants the very best for her child. This can be an ideal solution if there is little travelling involved…not ideal for mothers who might have to commute to London!

In the following pages I list all the opportunities available and some of the pros and cons of them as I see them. These pages are for you to discuss, to explore and to analyse.
Each family MUST make its own decision. Remember you can always change your mind if you feel that you or the baby needs something different. This will happen naturally too as the baby’s needs change, as they mature or if another ‘little one’ happens to come along. This site is for your benefit…to ask questions..to seek advice from other parents and to help you make an educated decision once you know all the alternatives available to you.
