Child care ‘at home with the baby’
|
Not all mothers want to or have to go out to work. Babies are a full time occupation and as they get older they do not get easier or take less time. |
After night feeds are over and a sleep pattern emerges, the next stage starts. Crawling, walking, talking, playing are all developmental stages which are enjoyable but which also bring their own trials and tribulations. It is very rewarding seeing your baby’s first step, hearing the first word and watching the playing and smiles of everyday life! |
| Mothers met at Ante-natal classes and form friendships. Again they meet at baby clinic and the children play. Local churches run coffee mornings for ‘Mothers and babies’ so that mothers can meet. Kinderclasses are held in music and at swimming pools. In some areas there are One O’clock Clubs held each day especially in local parks. They have soft toys and play equipment and mothers take their babies and chat to each other while the babies play. |
|
All these friendships are essential and some of them last a lifetime. The children go through playgroup, Nursery and school together so although the place changes there is always someone that the mother and baby know.
As other babies arrive there is already a network of people and places which are familiar.
Talk to people in your area through Parents in Touch to find out what is available and recommended. |
