The education and information site for parents

Back to Work

Returning to work means that you need to find an option that ensures you will feel your child will be safe and loved. Some grandparents fill this role and everyone is happy with this. Some fathers stay at home or may at least be able to help with some child care which is great. There are numerous other options. I have given you some alternatives in the following pages:

  • Child care ’At home with baby’
  • Child care by Childminders
  • Child care by Nannies
  • Child care in Day Nurseries
  • Child care in Crèches/play groups
  • Child care in Nursery Schools

Talk to other parents in your area and ensure that you have first hand information and recommendations regarding the person, place or organisation. Visit the place where you are going to leave your small child and feel confident with the people and the place.

Ask for references and especially check for Criminal Records Bureau clearance or at least police checks.

Select carefully and arrange to take your baby/child there prior to leaving him/her on his/her own.

Keep to time and insist that you are ready to pick up early rather than later. Talk to your employers.

See your child grow up happy and healthy.

TASKS to ensure peace of mind and a happy child.
