Right from birth all babies enjoy nursery Rhymes. It is so natural for a mother with an upset baby to rock the baby and sing into his ear…hush-a–bye-baby. Of course the baby cannot understand the words but it is not long before a newborn starts to react to the sound of his mother’s voice. Speaking, singing and reciting all help to create a bond between the mother and child.
Most Nursery rhymes involve repetition and this is exactly what baby needs to start learning. Often one of the first words that a baby says is ..again! The history behind Nursery Rhymes is fascinating although the true explanation can be gruesome e.g.Ring a Ring of Rosie which describes people falling down dead due to the Great Plague!
